“Stacy’s Song”- A Review

Stacy’s Song by Jacqueline Seewald is a Young Adult novel published by L&L Dreamspell. I received a review copy and read it in the last few days.
The story centers around a fifteen year old girl who is trying to figure out who she wants to be. She has some musical talent but is also athletic and has decided to try out for the cheerleading squad with her friend. The main character, Stacy, seems to be a people pleaser. She spends a lot of the book participating in activities to make her friends and her father happy and not necessarily for herself.
In some scenes, the main character shows a maturity beyond her years. In others, she seems immature. As I thought this over, being the mother of a sixteen year old myself, I found these apparent dicotomies to be mostly believeable.
I enjoyed this book except I felt the denouement happened a bit too quickly and would have liked that part of the book to have continued on a bit. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book. It was a fun, quick read and the growth of main character was well developed. I’m sure devotees of the YA genre will enjoy this coming of age romance.

PIMPS AND HOS- A Short Story

Just got the email that my short story, Pimps and Hos, is available for order. It’s part of an anthology called Dreamspell Mysteries, Vol. 1.
My story is a murder mystery that takes place in a bar that’s having a themed costume party. That theme is Pimps and Hos. It was a fun story to write and I hope people like it. Dying for a Date: Cindy Sample

One of the wicked awesome things about being accepted as an L&L Dreamspell writer is to be a part of the yahoo loop for those writers. I have discovered some really amazing people and a whole new world of stories. I bought the book Dying for a Date by Cindy Sample because it just sounded so great. I read it on the way to RWA National conference in Orlando last week. It was a fun read. I love a sassy heroine and this gal rocked! It is a story of a woman re-entering the dating game after a long absence when she gets divorced. Her first date is murdered the same night she goes out with him and she becomes suspect number one. Complete with hot cop, this story is a pleaser and I recommend it as a quick read- a beach read- an anytime read.
Cindy’s next book is Dying for a Dance and I’ll be in line to get it as soon as it comes out. It has to do with ballroom dancing. I’m sure my friend Emmy, the ballroom dancer, would love it, too and I’ll be recommending it to her.
